Yemen’s missile capabilities and the US-Israeli stalemate against Sanaa.
According to Yemen News, at the same time as the Yemeni armed forces announced the resumption of their naval operations against the Israeli ships until the blockade of the Gaza Strip is broken, a Russian magazine specializing in military affairs called “Top War” examined some of Yemen’s military capabilities in a short article and announced that the Yemeni Ansarullah movement has large stockpiles of weapons and equipment, including various types of missile systems for various purposes, and foreign intelligence services have not yet been able to determine the exact extent of Yemen’s missile power and the size of its arsenals and their sources of supply.
The report states that the Yemeni Ansarullah movement proved to be remarkably successful in resisting domestic groups and international coalition forces in the middle of the last decade. Then, in the fall of 2023, when Israel launched a major war against the Gaza Strip, the Yemeni Ansarullah movement immediately entered the field and pledged to help the Palestinians in every possible way.
Then, in a short period, Yemeni missile attacks began against Israeli and allied ships and ships associated with Israel that were sailing near the Yemeni coast.
Yemeni missile and drone power
The most prominent weapons in the Yemeni arsenal include long-range missile systems of various types. The Yemeni Ansarullah movement has ballistic and cruise missiles for attacking ground targets, as well as anti-ship systems, and has a set of advanced missile models and is likely to replenish its missile arsenal with new products in the future.
In 2015, the Yemenis began developing and using the “Al-Qahir 1” missile in tactical operations. This missile was originally an anti-aircraft missile from the S-75 system and had a range of 250 kilometers, which was later expanded.
In 2016, the first Yemeni “Burkan” missile was introduced, which had unique characteristics and, thanks to significant improvements, its range reached 700-800 kilometers.
Since 2023, the missile units of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement have been carrying out regular attacks on ships and boats associated with Israel passing near the coast of Yemen.
The military wing of the Yemeni Ansarullah movement has long gone beyond the stereotypical image of a paramilitary organization in the region and has turned into a fully capable army consisting of ground forces with various components and structures. The process of creating such an army was fraught with many difficulties and limitations, but even in these conditions, the Yemenis achieved truly impressive results.
The Yemenis managed to create a missile force and have various types of air weapons at their disposal. Possession of weapons and missile systems allows the Yemenis to attack the enemy on the battlefield or in tactical depth, as well as at significant distances from Yemen’s borders.
