Zelensky: We are getting closer to the end of the war in Ukraine

PNN – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that his country was “closer to the end of the war”.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, in an interview with ABC News, parts of which were aired on Monday night, Zelensky said: I think we are closer to peace than we think. We are nearing the end of the war.

He also asked Washington and other partners of Ukraine to continue supporting his country.

Zelensky stated that only from a “position of strength” could Russian President Vladimir Putin be forced to “stop the war.”

Referring to the penetration of Ukrainian forces into the Kursk region of Russia, he said that Putin was “very afraid of this issue because the Russian people saw that he was unable to defend and could not defend all of his territory.”

Zelensky flew to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly on Sunday and called on Kiev’s partners to help the country achieve “a common understanding” and a “truly just peace.”

But Putin has made negotiations and peace with Ukraine conditional. The President of Russia announced in June that if Ukraine abandons its ambitions in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and withdraws its forces from four Ukrainian regions claimed by Moscow; Moscow will cease fire and enter into peace talks.

Putin said Russia was ready to withdraw from Ukrainian territory to pave the way for peace.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also denied the country’s participation in the Ukrainian “peace meeting” on Saturday night and said that ignoring Russia’s interests would make it impossible to achieve a stable and fair solution to the Ukrainian conflict.
