Zelensky: We will probably achieve a just peace only after Putin

PNN – In a speech, the Ukrainian president claimed that he saw no desire to make peace with Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming that a just peace would only be achieved after him.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with RTL during his visit to Berlin: Ukraine is still far from victory. Russia is advancing relentlessly, several hundred meters a day. Zelensky declared that he did not have much hope for an imminent peace.

He claimed: I don’t see any desire in Putin to end the war.

Zelensky also said: I know what steps we need to take to end the war. First a ceasefire, then negotiations for peace. Zelensky said: Probably only after Putin will we achieve a just peace.

The Ukrainian president also stressed that the situation is just as serious as during his first three trips to Berlin. However, now almost everything is different: there is a new person in the chancellor’s office who wants to do better than Olaf Schulz.

German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz traveled to Kiev shortly after being sworn in. “We stand together now more than ever,” Zelensky said.

In another part of the conversation, he referred to the issue of Germany sending Taurus missiles to Ukraine and said: I don’t want to lie, the Taurus issue was discussed privately. We are working on it. He declined to provide further details, saying that he had reached an agreement with Meretz on this matter.

Zelensky said he wants these cruise missiles, there’s no doubt about that. But he doesn’t see it as a game changer or a miracle weapon either.

He stressed that more is needed to win the war. He added: We need Taurus, Patriot and political pressure. Zelensky said that the sanctions package was just as strong and that was important to him, German money for weapons production in Ukraine was also important, and another thing that is essential is the alliance between Europe and the United States.

Zelensky ended his visit to Germany yesterday after spending just a few hours in Berlin and headed to Ukraine. The Ukrainian embassy in Berlin denied media reports that he had canceled his participation in the Charlemagne Prize ceremony in Aachen due to the impending Russian invasion.

Zelensky also called on the United States to put more pressure on Russia.

He stressed that ultimately, only the United States has the power to make a difference. But other countries, such as China and the global South, have remained silent, he added.

Zelensky also highly praised German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, saying: I believe that Friedrich is a strong leader of a strong country.
