PNN – The Ukrainian President warned about the conditions at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, referring to the power outage at the plant for the seventh day.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the conditions at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant “dire,” claiming that the power outage at the plant has continued for the seventh day.
Zelensky said: It’s been seven days now. This is unprecedented. One of the diesel generators that provides emergency power to the power plant has failed.
He claimed: The Russian bombing has led to the plant being disconnected from the power grid. This is a threat to everyone. No terrorist in the world has ever dared to do what Russia is doing to a nuclear power plant!

The latest incident is Zaporozhye’s longest power outage since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022. It is also the tenth time since the start of the current war that Europe’s largest nuclear power plant has been disconnected from the power grid.
Zelensky’s claim about Russia’s attack on Zaporizhia comes as Moscow seized control of the Zaporizhia power plant in the first weeks of the war. According to Al Jazeera, the plant’s six reactors, which supplied about a fifth of Ukraine’s electricity before the war, were shut down after Moscow took control.
However, the plant needs electricity to maintain the cooling and safety systems that prevent the reactors from melting, a risk that could trigger a nuclear accident.
Moscow and Kiev have repeatedly accused each other of causing a possible nuclear disaster by attacking Zaporozhye and have also blamed each other for the recent power outage.
Earlier this week, Rafael Grossi, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, condemned the disconnection of Zaporozhye’s external power grid but did not blame either party.
