Zionist media warns of continued boycott of Israeli sports.
The Israeli newspaper Israel Hum reported that the incident occurred when the Israeli fencer Dov Wilensky was scheduled to play against Kuwait’s Sultan Hassan in the group stage, but the Kuwaiti player withdrew from the match.
The Israeli newspaper added that the boycott is a continuation of a similar situation that we witnessed in the international under-14 tennis tournament, when another Kuwaiti player withdrew from the match against the Israeli team and received public and political support and encouragement in Kuwait.
According to the Israeli newspaper, this incident once again challenged the Israeli regime in the international arena.
The Israeli newspaper Israel Hum emphasized that the wave of boycotts of Israeli athletes by competitors around the world continues to spread.
According to IRNA, 48 prominent football players had previously signed a statement addressed to the European Football Association (UEFA) demanding that Israeli clubs and teams be prevented from participating in international football cups.
The statement said, “Sport is not neutral in the face of oppression, and silence is an admission that some lives are more valuable than others, and that we believe in the same principles for all nations and countries, which is the implementation of justice without double standards.”
The statement added, “The majority of the signatories to this statement, who are professional football players, emphasize that Israel (the regime) violates international humanitarian law and is against the principles of respect, security, and peace in sport.”
They concluded the statement by emphasizing, “We are the united voice of professional athletes from around the world, standing for justice, equality, and humanity in sport.”
The Times newspaper had previously reported, citing informed sources, that the majority of members of the executive committee of the European Football Association (UEFA) supported the suspension of Israel’s membership in the union.
According to these sources, the decision to suspend the Zionist regime’s membership was made after the report of an international investigation committee concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza.
A group of United Nations experts previously called on the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the European Football Association (UEFA) to suspend the participation of the Israeli team in international competitions; this request was made in light of the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
