Zionist Minister: Avoid reviving Palestinian myths.
Israeli Communications Minister Miri Riggio stated, “I suggested to the security cabinet that they burn the body of Yahya Sinwar, the former leader of the Hamas movement, just as the Americans burned the body of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.” However, contrary to what the minister claimed, Osama bin Laden’s body was actually buried at sea after he was killed in Pakistan.
Riggio continued, “They did not comment on my suggestion to burn Sinwar’s body, but I believe there are certain myths we should not resurrect.” She added, “We know the Middle East and the events taking place in the region, so I say we should not allow Sinwar to return and be buried.”
Regarding the second phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Tel Aviv, she said, “If the last body of an Israeli prisoner is not returned, the second phase will not be implemented.” Miri Riggio asserted that the Israeli regime possesses extensive information about the locations of most bodies and may have more data on this matter than Hamas, which she claims does not always adhere to agreements.
On October 16, 2024, during an exchange of fire between resistance fighters and the 828th Unit of the Israeli army in the Tel Sultan neighborhood, the building where Sinwar was present was targeted by tanks. Sinwar, who had taken refuge in the building with his bodyguard Mahmoud Hamdan after being injured in a confrontation with occupying forces, fought bravely until the end. Reports indicate that he was seen in military uniform, holding a Kalashnikov and facing a reconnaissance drone, before he was ultimately martyred when part of the building collapsed.
Israeli media later confirmed his identity through DNA testing and dental record matching. The Zionist regime launched a war against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023 with the primary goals of destroying the Hamas movement and retrieving Israeli prisoners from the region. However, they were unable to achieve these objectives and were forced into negotiations with the Hamas movement to arrange a prisoner exchange.
On Thursday, Hamas officially announced the achievement of an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip and exchange prisoners. The Zionist regime’s army also confirmed the implementation of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on Friday afternoon, 18 Mehr 1404. According to the agreement, Israeli forces will remain stationed in certain areas of the Gaza Strip, and movement from the south to the north of the territory will be permitted via Al-Rashid Street and Salah al-Din Road. Despite this, the Zionist regime continues to obstruct the implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire and has repeatedly violated its terms.
