Zionist soldiers’ narrative of suicide and collective nightmare in the Gaza war

PNN – A number of Zionist soldiers, pointing out that the army continues the war without any military goal, emphasized: We are all tired and living in a nightmare, a number of troops have committed suicide and this is our fate, and the cabinet thinks we are machines.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, While numerous reports had been published since the early months of the Gaza war about the psychological breakdown of Zionist soldiers and suicides among them, Hebrew media outlets have addressed the great nightmare that the Israeli army forces are living through in a new report, citing statements from soldiers on the front lines of the war.

Gal Ganot, a reporter for the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, has interviewed several Zionist soldiers in this regard, who paint a dark picture of the reality of the Israeli army in war. They emphasize that post-traumatic stress disorder has become a silent epidemic among Israeli forces, and that fatigue from prolonged combat is a killer of Israeli forces, and suicide is also common.

Death follows us everywhere.

Shaher, a 22-year-old Zionist soldier who serves in one of the army’s infantry brigades, said in this regard: The enthusiasm and drive I had for the war soon turned into a deadly fatigue. In the early days, I had abandoned everything, even my only sister’s party, but after two months in Gaza, I saw death everywhere.

He added: Today, when they order us to return to the Gaza Strip, my whole body shakes. Sometimes my fingers cannot hold the weapon due to the pain and fatigue. Doctors say that these are psychological symptoms, but the commanders insist that it is nothing and that we should not pay attention to these pains, but we are very tired.

Noam, a 21-year-old Zionist soldier, also stated in the same context: We were highly motivated at the beginning of the war and everyone knew what they were going to do, we all wanted to enter the Gaza Strip and be effective in this war and there was no question about it, but last January I felt a lot of changes and suddenly we were moved from offensive missions to defensive missions.

Ammunition is more important to the Israeli army than the lives of its troops.

He continued: Things got to the point where we started to feel like we were stuck, waiting for something to happen, and we were in a passive state. This situation has continued for the past year, which is very difficult and frustrating, and I myself have begun to question the goals and meaning of the war.

The aforementioned Zionist military officer noted: I have given everything in this war, my soul, and my life; can you give it back to me? When such events occur and the war has no clear military objective and is only continued with political considerations and we are not allowed to move forward, the motivation is lost.

Collective nightmares

He clarified: In this situation, we feel like we are just a piece of armed meat. Psychological crises have gripped us all and when night falls, the situation worsens. I unconsciously wake up to the sound of explosions in my dreams and scream. Then my friends laugh and say, “This is a new feature in our army: collective nightmares.” But I know that we all carry a broken object inside us.

Death and suicide

Amir, a 23-year-old soldier in the Israeli army who is a commander of the army’s armored unit, said: A week ago, two members of the armored tank force refused to carry out the order to advance and said, we are tired and this is suicide. But instead of listening to them, the commanders arrested them.

Ben, a 24-year-old Zionist soldier who serves in the Sayeret Metkal special unit, discussed the difference between regular and reserve forces in the Israeli army and said: The reservists come for a month and then return to their families, but our lives as regular soldiers have been over since October 2023. When I was talking to a friend of mine, he said, I’m afraid to sleep because I might not wake up.

He added: When the reservists return from leave, they talk to us about their wives and children, but we can’t remember what life was like without war at all. This situation is very worrying and we want to return to normal life, but we know that this is not possible and that we will be called up again for a long time and the army will not give up on us under any circumstances.

The aforementioned Zionist soldier stated: I see even the reservists going through a very difficult period and some of them committed suicide and this will happen to us too. We are very disappointed and it seems that the Israeli cabinet and society have abandoned everything and think that we are machines, not humans.

Agmit Jaliu, head of the IDF’s “Mothers at the Front” movement, announced: Dozens of mothers of regular IDF soldiers recently contacted us and said that their children were tired and exhausted and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Since the beginning of the Gaza War, numerous reports have been published by the regime’s media about the mental disorders and trauma of the Zionist soldiers; but it is quite clear that the psychological tensions of the Zionist occupying forces are not due to remorse for the crimes they are committing against innocent civilians, especially women and children, but rather due to the heavy and unprecedented blows they are suffering from the resistance.
