PNN – The Jeffrey Epstein case has become a focal point of US midterm election campaigning.
Jeffrey Epstein has been dead for seven years, yet his name is appearing everywhere during this year’s election campaign season. Democrats—and occasionally Republicans—are using his case to attack their rivals or promote their own political standing.
A CNN analysis reveals that candidates and outside groups have released more than 160 distinct advertisements linked to Epstein for the 2026 midterm elections, spending over $35 million to air them.
This figure represents a dramatic surge compared to the 2024 presidential election, during which only three such ads aired—all related to local races in Florida, the state where the Epstein scandal first came to light.
During the 2024 election campaign, U.S. President Donald Trump and his allies helped keep the Epstein case in the spotlight by promising greater transparency and fueling expectations that more documents would be released. However, this year, Democrats are the primary drivers of advertising on this issue, accounting for nearly 90 percent of the ads identified during this election cycle.
CNN reports that these advertisements demonstrate the significant political impact the Epstein case still holds—even nearly a year after the U.S. Department of Justice released millions of pages of documents related to the case, following an intense political battle led largely by congressional Democrats.
Despite years of public pressure for accountability regarding this case, the Epstein matter did not feature prominently in the election campaigns prior to this year’s vote.
Polls from this spring indicate that a majority of voters from both major U.S. political parties believe the Epstein documents demonstrate that influential figures are rarely held accountable for their actions. However, it remains unclear what impact this issue will have on the midterm elections.
According to data from the firm AdImpact, more than $10 million has been spent on advertising related to Epstein in Georgia. More than three-quarters of this amount was funded directly by the campaign of Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff.
Ossoff has repeatedly attacked his Republican rival, Representative Mike Collins, portraying him as a loyal supporter of Trump who opposed the release of the Epstein documents.
In one of Ossoff’s Facebook advertisements, a former U.S. Marshal states: Mike Collins voted to keep the Epstein documents hidden, even after knowing that 14-year-old girls had been sexually assaulted. He tried to tell us the whole thing was a hoax.
The Epstein Case: A Death Shrouded in Mystery
Jeffrey Epstein, an American financier and convicted sex offender, became the center of one of the most controversial legal cases in the United States—a case involving allegations of sexual abuse of underage girls, connections to wealthy and influential figures, and lingering questions regarding the circumstances of his death in prison.
Born in 1953, Epstein worked in the financial sector and gradually amassed wealth and an extensive network of connections among influential economic, political, and social figures. His name was linked to a number of prominent individuals.
On August 10, 2019, Epstein was found unconscious in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, and his death was pronounced shortly thereafter.
The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a suicide by hanging; however, the complex network of wealthy and powerful figures in the West that he had cultivated has led many analysts to view this narrative with serious skepticism—or even reject it outright. There is substantial evidence suggesting he was murdered.
For instance, a report by the U.S. Department of Justice Inspector General reveals that two surveillance cameras outside Epstein’s cell malfunctioned on the night of his death. Experts investigating the incident have stated that this constituted a bizarre breach of prison security protocols and likely resulted from external tampering.
Furthermore, renowned pathologist Michael Baden—hired by the Epstein family—emphasized in his report that Epstein’s neck injuries, including fractures of the hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage, were more consistent with strangulation than with suicide by hanging.
These inconsistencies—coupled with the prominent names of the wealthy and powerful found in the Epstein case, whose deep ties to him are currently being exposed (ranging from current U.S. President Donald Trump to former U.S. President Bill Clinton, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Elon Musk, and others)—indicate that the Epstein affair is far more mysterious and enigmatic than it might initially appear.
