PNN – The Iraqi Prime Minister pledged to submit the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law to Parliament for a vote and approval within the next two weeks.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Iraqi MP Rafiq al-Salhi stated that Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi has committed to submitting the PMF law to Parliament for a vote and approval within a maximum of two weeks.

Al-Salhi added that during last Thursday’s meeting between the Prime Minister and a number of parliamentarians, vital and sensitive issues were reviewed—foremost among them the fight against corruption and the improvement of public services.

He further noted that the attending lawmakers expressed their full support for the continued pursuit of corrupt individuals, the recovery of looted assets, and the prosecution of the corrupt.

An Iraqi MP stated that the core focus of recent discussions and meetings between parliamentarians and Al-Zaidi was the call for justice regarding the immense sacrifices made by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and their pivotal, active role in dismantling ISIS terrorist cells; specifically, that this justice should be realized by expediting the submission of the PMF bill to Parliament to formalize the rights of its fighters.

He added that the Prime Minister responded positively to the parliamentary requests, promising to submit the draft PMF law to Parliament within the next two weeks to initiate the legislative process.
