PNN – In a further move against the UAE, Algeria has closed its airspace to aircraft from that country.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Reuters; the Algerian Ministry of Defense announced that, following the severance of diplomatic relations with the UAE, the country’s airspace will be closed to all civil and military aircraft registered in the UAE starting from the early hours of September 11.

According to the Ministry of Defense statement, this decision takes effect at 00:00 on September 11, 2026, and applies to flights by Emirati aircraft to and from Algeria.

However, commercial civilian flights from the UAE arriving at or departing from Algiers’ Houari Boumediene International Airport are exempt from this ban and will continue until the current contract expires at the end of 2026.

This move follows Algeria’s decision today to sever diplomatic relations with the UAE. Reuters has reported that Algeria accused Abu Dhabi of engaging in “provocative or hostile” actions.
