PNN – An Iraqi politician expressed concern about recent trends and warned of possible American interference in the security appointments of the country’s new government.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Muhammad al-Dhari, a prominent member of the Anbar Coalition, warned about the consequences of US interference in the security appointments of the new Iraqi government.
He warned about the consequences of the Ali al-Zaidi government giving in to US pressure and interference in the selection of security officials, saying that the US government is seeking to make the al-Zaidi government surrender through its pressure so that the security figures responsible for handling the Iraqi security file are supporters of the Trump administration.
Al-Dulaimi noted that the Trump administration has told the new Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi that he should not interfere in the appointment of the ministers of interior and defense and other security institutions, and that the selection of these positions should be with the United States, and that the new and elected Iraqi government does not have the right to select security figures to manage the security file, especially in a situation where the United States wants to dissolve an official security institution (the Popular Mobilization Forces) in Iraq.
He added: Washington has promised Ali al-Zaidi that it will support him domestically and internationally if he implements the demands of the Trump administration.
According to al-Dulaimi, this comes at a time when Iraqi political coalitions have emphasized their opposition to the blatant American interference in their country’s internal affairs and issues.
