PNN – Direct talks between Lebanon and the Israeli regime, hosted by the US Secretary of State, began in Washington.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; News sources reported the start of direct talks between Lebanon and the Israeli regime in Washington.

In these talks, which began at the headquarters of the US State Department, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed the ambassadors of the Israeli regime and Lebanon.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in this regard: We have a historic opportunity regarding the Israeli-Lebanese talks in Washington. The complexities will not be resolved in the next 6 hours, but we can begin to move forward and create a general framework.

Rubio said he hopes the talks will be a process. He said the goal is to end 20 to 30 years of Hezbollah influence in Lebanon.

This is the first direct talks between Israel and Lebanon in decades.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed hope that the talks will be the beginning of an end to the suffering of the Lebanese.

He stressed that stability will not return to southern Lebanon as long as the Zionist regime continues to occupy Lebanese lands.

Very rare negotiations between the Lebanese and Zionist sides have begun in Washington, while, according to many experts, the specific framework and goals for the meeting have not yet been announced, and Lebanon’s Hezbollah has announced its opposition to it.

Hours before the meeting, the Zionist side had announced the complete destruction of Hezbollah in Lebanon as a precondition for any normalization, a condition that is unlikely to be acceptable to Lebanon.

The US Secretary of State also said: We have a historic opportunity regarding the Israeli-Lebanese talks in Washington. The complexities will not be resolved in the next 6 hours, but we can begin to move forward and create a general framework.

Exposing the Zionist Regime’s Conditions in the Washington Negotiations

Al-Mayadeen Network reported on the set of conditions put forward by the Zionist regime in Washington’s negotiations regarding southern Lebanon.

A source in an interview with Al-Mayadeen Network reported on the set of conditions put forward by the Zionist regime in Washington’s negotiations regarding southern Lebanon.

According to Al-Mayadeen, Israel presented a strange and colonialist plan in these negotiations, according to which southern Lebanon would be divided into three security and operational zones:

  • Zone 1: The creation of a “permanent buffer zone” about 8 kilometers wide, to which, according to this source, Lebanese residents will not be allowed to return.
  • Zone 2: The area south of the Litani River, which is defined in this plan as the zone of Israeli military operations until further notice.
  • Zone 3: The area north of the Litani River to the whole of Lebanon, where, according to Al-Mayadeen, the Lebanese army should be responsible for disarming Hezbollah independently.

According to the same report, the main condition put forward in this plan is that Israel will only carry out any complete and final withdrawal after the “complete destruction of Hezbollah.”
