PNN – Doctors in the Netherlands have called for the suspension of the Israeli Medical Association’s activities within their country.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Israel’s Channel 14 reported that protests by Dutch doctors against the presence of the Israeli Medical Association—which is participating in a global congress held in the Netherlands—have intensified significantly.
By signing a petition, these doctors called for the suspension of the Israeli Medical Association’s participation in the congress due to its involvement in the war (genocide) in Gaza.
According to this Zionist media outlet, the ongoing protests regarding the protection of medical personnel and patient care during the war spread beyond the World Medical Association conference in the Netherlands over the weekend.
Doctors, healthcare workers, and activists staged a demonstration in Rotterdam on Saturday, calling for the suspension of the Israeli Medical Association’s membership in the global body. The protest took place outside the city’s World Trade Center, the venue for the association’s General Assembly.
Video footage released by news agencies shows participants—wearing medical coats and carrying placards and flags—hanging medical workwear outside the conference venue.
Doctors and activists from several countries took part in the protest.
Among the protesters were Omar Barghouti, a co-founder of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, and Dr. Hussein Shomar, a Gaza-born surgeon practicing in Germany.
These demonstrations took place as part of the “Withdraw from the International Medical Association” campaign, which ran for three days—from October 8 to 10—coinciding with the General Assembly.
According to the organizers’ agenda, the event featured sessions and discussions regarding the protection of Palestinian medical personnel, medical and academic boycotts, and calls for suspension.
Concurrently with the protests, organizers are circulating a petition demanding the suspension of the “Israel Medical Association’s” membership in the global body. As part of this campaign, they accuse the association of violating ethical obligations in light of the war in Gaza and are releasing documentation regarding the treatment of Palestinian detainees.
