PNN – As curfews are imposed in various French cities, the country braces for further protests.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; French official Sébastien Lecornu announced that, following unrest on the sidelines of nationwide demonstrations—and with organizers planning new protests—authorities intend to implement a “massive” security presence next week.

Speaking in parliament, Lecornu stated: The deployment of forces for next Saturday will be very extensive.

He also acknowledged that the security operations during the recent protests were “excessively static and lacked the necessary mobility.”

France extends curfew in the city of Lyon.

Meanwhile, local authorities in France have announced the extension of nighttime movement restrictions in the city center of Lyon.

This restriction begins at 9:00 PM tonight and will remain in effect until 6:00 AM tomorrow.

Several French cities, including Paris, imposed restrictions on Monday night. In the French capital, presence in the areas surrounding the Place de la République and the Les Halles district was strictly prohibited from 11:00 PM last night until 6:00 AM today.

Furthermore, gatherings and demonstrations were banned in certain parts of the city from 8:00 PM onwards. The police department stated that these measures were necessary to maintain public order.

Bans on demonstrations and curfews were also implemented in Lyon. There, individuals were permitted to be on the streets on Monday night only if they could provide a valid, pre-approved reason. Curfews for minors were also in effect in Nice, as well as in the northern French cities of Lille, Douai, Wattignies, and Denain.

Last weekend, widespread unrest erupted in France on the sidelines of demonstrations against the high cost of living and shortcomings in the education system, with at least 2,331 people arrested across the country. Further protests are expected to take place on Saturday.
