PNN – The German Foreign Minister announced that Berlin supports the continued operation of the International Criminal Court, even in the face of political pressure.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Anadolu; German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that the country, together with its international partners, would support the International Criminal Court to ensure the institution can continue to fulfill its duties.
Pointing to the mounting pressure on international institutions, he emphasized that for Germany, supporting the Court is not merely a matter of foreign policy but part of the country’s historical responsibility.
The United States does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and has imposed sanctions on the institution and its officials in recent years. Last week, at the UN General Assembly, Donald Trump also called on member states to withdraw from the Court.
