PNN – Poll results indicate that more than 50 percent of Americans support Democratic control of Congress.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University shows that over half of American citizens would like to see Democrats win a majority of congressional seats in the upcoming midterm elections.
Specifically, 51 percent of respondents stated they prefer the Democratic Party to secure a congressional majority, while 39 percent favor the Republicans winning the majority.
These results differ from those obtained by the same institute in the first half of September, showing a preference for a Democratic victory and a Republican victory at 49 percent and 39 percent, respectively.
Furthermore, only 34 percent of individuals support Trump’s policies, while 61 percent are dissatisfied with his actions and do not support them.
Meanwhile, new data from Gallup indicates that the partisan leanings of American voters have shifted noticeably in recent months, with Democrats now leading Republicans by a 10-point margin.
According to the latest quarterly data from Gallup, 49 percent of respondents identified as Democrats or Democratic-leaning, while 39 percent identified as Republicans or Republican-leaning.
Reports based on Gallup data indicate recent shifts in party affiliation, showing increased voter inclination toward the Democrats and a decline in support for the Republicans.
The Gallup report comes as Democrats hope to strengthen their position in the House of Representatives during the November midterm elections.
Additionally, poll results indicate that the motivation of Democratic voters to participate in the November midterms stems more from their opposition to President Trump than from the party’s agenda or platform.
Accordingly, results from a joint CBS-YouGov poll indicate that 54 percent of Democratic voters stated they would vote for Democratic candidates to block the agendas and policies of Trump and Republican lawmakers. Meanwhile, 46 percent said they would vote for Democratic candidates to help their party finalize its own policies.
The U.S. midterm elections are scheduled for November 3. In these elections, 33 of the 100 Senate seats and all 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for election. Republicans currently control both chambers.
