Heavy Casualties among Saudi Mercenaries / Failure to Advance toward Bab al-Mandab

Mercenaries

PNN – A Yemeni military source reported that a large number of Saudi-backed mercenaries have been killed or wounded, and that an attempt to advance toward Bab al-Mandab has failed.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; a Yemeni military source told the Saba News Agency that, following developments on the battlefronts, a large number of mercenaries affiliated with Saudi Arabia—including some Saudi nationals—have been killed or wounded.

The source added that these forces are currently grappling with internal tensions and divisions.

The military source further stated that Yemeni armed forces thwarted an attempt by Saudi-backed mercenaries—commanded by an officer named Badr al-Harbi—to advance toward Bab al-Mandab, resulting in the failure of their offensive.

The Bab al-Mandab Strait is one of the world’s most critical strategic waterways, through which a significant portion of maritime trade and oil transport passes. In recent years—particularly following the escalation of tensions in the Red Sea—this strait and its surrounding areas have frequently become the scene of conflicts and attacks.

Yemeni armed forces have previously announced that, in response to the long-standing blockade of their country by Saudi Arabia, they are implementing a policy of “blockade for blockade.” According to an official statement from the Yemeni armed forces, the country has imposed a ban on the navigation of Saudi Arabian vessels—effective immediately upon the issuance of the statement—emphasizing that this measure is a response to Saudi Arabia’s oppressive, nearly 12-year-long blockade.

Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, declared that Yemen reserves the right to counter the blockade through a policy of “blockade for blockade,” and to respond to any escalation with “all-out escalation for all-out escalation.”

According to reports, since the implementation of this policy, the Yemeni Armed Forces have forced several Saudi Arabian oil tankers to change course and have prevented dozens of other vessels from passing.
