Human rights groups considered Trump’s statements against the Palestinians as a clear example of racism

PNN – Human rights groups criticized former US President Donald Trump’s comments about the Palestinians during Thursday’s presidential debate with President Joe Biden, calling them racist and offensive.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from “Al-Arabiya English”, at a controversial moment in this debate, the two US presidential candidates briefly discussed Gaza, where the Zionist regime has killed more than 37,000 Palestinians and created a dire humanitarian crisis.

In his statement, Biden claimed: The only person who wants the war to continue is Hamas. Trump responded by saying that the current president has become like a Palestinian.

He claimed: In fact, it is Israel that wants to continue on its way, and Biden should leave them alone and let them finish the job. [Biden] doesn’t want to do that. He looks like a Palestinian, but they don’t like him because Biden is such a bad Palestinian. He is a weak person.

In a speech on Friday, Trump repeated the use of the word “Palestinian” as an insult while referring to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who is Jewish.

“Chuck Schumer has become a Palestinian because they can get a few more votes,” he added.

In a statement, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) criticized Trump’s comments as well as Biden’s claim that Israel wants to stop the war.

Trump’s use of the term “Palestinian” was a racial slur, said Corey Saylor, the council’s director of research and advocacy. Biden’s propaganda about his military support for the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza was brutal.

US Vice President: The debate with Trump was not a good time for Biden

Paul O’Brien, the executive director of Amnesty International in the United States, told Reuters news agency: “Insinuating being Palestinian as something bad, as former US President Trump pointed out to Biden, smacks of racism and anti-Arab hatred.”

American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) also called for an end to the use of racist and dehumanizing language in political debates.

The group said in a statement: “This rhetoric represents a shameful attempt to denigrate a population that is fighting to end the genocide perpetrated by the very government that Trump refers to.”

Trump’s statements across social networks have been strongly condemned by journalists and human rights activists.

The first debate between Biden and Trump was held in the studio of the CNN television network in Atlanta, Georgia, with the presence of two well-known CNN anchors, Jake Tepper and Dana Bash, without the presence of an audience.

This debate lasted 100 minutes and included two breaks with commercials, and during its holding, the election headquarters of the two candidates could not interact with them.

Biden and Trump had agreed to appear on the same podium, and their place was determined by a coin or a lion or a line between the representatives of the two candidates, and Biden will be on the podium that can be seen on the right side of the television images, and Trump will be on the podium.

It was also decided that the President of the United States would be the last person to speak in this debate. Both candidates will do the debate standing up. No devices or notes will be allowed on stage and candidates will only be given a pen, paper and a bottle of water.

Biden’s team, some of whom helped prepare former US Democratic President Barack Obama for his debates, hope to overcome the rigors of the first debates of the US presidential candidates tonight.

Trump has been one of the leading figures of the Republican Party since 2016, when he became the President of the United States for the first time, who lost to his Democratic rival Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Americans will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 to elect the next president of the United States. The winner of this election will start the four-year presidential term from January 2025.
