PNN – Iran called on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to take action to convey its message of opposition to unilateralism and terrorism.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, at the two-day meeting of the permanent representatives of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on April 17 and 18 in Beijing, which was held with the presence of representatives of the member states, the International Deputy Secretary-General, and other diplomatic delegations residing in Beijing, the representative of Islamic Republic of Iran, in a statement, while addressing the barbaric military aggressions of the US regime and the Israeli regime, in violation of Article 2, Paragraph 4, of the United Nations Charter and in the midst of negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, and the attacks on civilian sites, schools, including Minab School (which led to the martyrdom of 168 elementary school children), residential homes, medical centers and hospitals, universities, stadiums, economic and industrial infrastructure, bridges, and even historical sites, have committed many war crimes.
Iran’s representative also referred to the 12-day military aggression by the Israeli regime with the help of the US regime in the midst of negotiations, the crimes and damages inflicted on our country, as well as the support for disrupting the protests with ISIS-style terrorist acts and severe violence throughout the country, and the US President’s admission of providing financial and military aid to these rebels, and mentioned violations of international law.
The representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran further pointed out the readiness of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader and military commanders, who were able to defend their people and their territory in less than 3 hours from the start of the enemy’s invasion on February 28, within the framework of Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and self-defense, and inflicted heavy blows on the US military bases in the region as well as the Israeli regime, and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek a military escalation of the tension with the US and prefers to resolve the current crisis through diplomatic channels. He also thanked and appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani authorities to establish this ceasefire and host the talks between the two sides.
The representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran continued, while addressing all member states of the organization, saying that we are currently in one of the most important and sensitive periods in world history. At a time when the US regime intends to replace diplomacy and negotiation with force to resolve disputes by violating international law and ignoring or using international organizations as a tool, and to place arrogant and unilateral behaviors at the center of international relations. And these behaviors undermine peace and security in the world and violate international law and international humanitarian law. And he said that this war was not simply a war against an independent state, but rather a symbol of the use of force to advance the interests of the aggressor, which could overshadow the efforts of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which is progress, development and regional and global stability.
He appreciated the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s statement in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting the aggressions of these two regimes and said: We believe that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization can play a more prominent role in reducing tension and establishing peace, stability, and ensuring security. Without a doubt, any insecurity in the region and the pursuit of separatist plans in the Islamic Republic of Iran can increase the scope of this crisis and spread insecurity to other regions.
The most important assassinations carried out by the US and Israeli regimes have been the assassinations of Iranian leaders and senior managers, scientists, women and children. The head of the terrorist US government constantly and regularly boasts of assassinating and martyring the Supreme Leader and high-ranking military and civilian officials of Iran; while such assassinations are considered clear examples of terrorism and war crimes. So what is the value of international law, human rights and the fight against terrorism that we cite in the UN Charter and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization?
The US President’s admission of committing the assassination of people and the crime of aggression against Iran entails the individual criminal responsibility of the US President and any other American and Israeli official or individual involved in gross violations of international law, who have committed war crimes by committing the crime of aggression, directing attacks against Iranian citizens, including women and children, scientists, university professors, journalists, etc., and carrying out deliberate attacks against civilian targets and economic and energy infrastructure, including peaceful nuclear facilities.
There is evidence that the targeting of the Shajareh Tayyiba School in Minab was also aimed at creating terror and an atmosphere of terror among the Iranian nation. Therefore, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization needs to take more tangible and practical steps to convey its message of opposition to unilateralism and terrorism, based on its mission and with the aim of promoting regional and global peace and security.
In conclusion, we salute all those who bravely stood against the aggression and crime against the Iranian nation. The world must distinguish between the aggressor and the defender. I suggest that while condemning this brutal aggression once again and including the issue in the final protocol of the various meetings on the organization’s agenda, the organization’s secretariat, in a humanitarian gesture, prepare and send to Tehran a shipment of medical and emergency aid from the organization’s members.
