PNN – In response to the US President’s stance against her, the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni clarified: Being your friend has certainly not helped my popularity.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the BBC, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reacted to the US President’s mocking remarks against her, stating that being friends with Donald Trump “definitely” did not help her popularity in Italy.
After the US president questioned her political popularity, Maloney said in a statement on Instagram that Trump’s “constant and unprovoked (verbal) attacks” were “nonsense.”
The Italian Prime Minister said: As for my popularity, being your friend certainly hasn’t helped it, and it doesn’t depend on my relationship with you. My popularity has nothing to do with you. I suggest you focus on your own popularity.
She then added that Rome would make its decisions based on Italy’s national interests.
This comes after Trump said on Saturday that Meloni had created “a huge logistical problem” by preventing the United States from using Italian air bases for military aggression against Iran.
Trump had insulted Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in recent days, saying: She begged me to take a picture with her! She really wanted to take a picture with me. I didn’t want to do it at all, but I felt sorry for her!
