Modi: BRICS is a platform to amplify the voice of the Global South

PNN – Referring to the meeting of foreign ministers and delegations of BRICS countries, the Indian Prime Minister announced that this group has become an important platform for strengthening cooperation among emerging economies and reflecting the demands of the global South, and that New Delhi will focus on strengthening multilateralism, sustainable development, and economic resilience during its presidency of this bloc.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Modi wrote on Twitter on Thursday: I was delighted to interact with the foreign ministers and heads of delegations of the BRICS countries. BRICS has emerged as an important platform for advancing cooperation among emerging economies and giving voice to the aspirations of the global South.

The Indian Prime Minister emphasized: During India’s chairmanship of BRICS this year, we will work together to strengthen multilateralism, promote sustainable development, advance economic resilience and build a more inclusive global order.

BRICS members will meet on May 14 and 15 to discuss key international issues.

Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates are the main members of the BRICS bloc.

BRICS is working to develop alternative financial mechanisms and reduce dependence on the US dollar. The bloc is also trying to strengthen the presence of countries from the Global South in international institutions and challenge Western governance structures.

New Delhi will chair BRICS in 2026 under the motto “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

The bloc’s countries represent more than 40 percent of the world’s population and account for more than 32 percent of global GDP.
