PNN – Dozens of American professors and researchers have called on the British Prime Minister in an open letter to lift the ban on the “Palestine Action” group and drop the charges brought against its members and supporters.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al Jazeera; dozens of American professors and academics signed an open letter ahead of the UK Labour Party conference in Liverpool, urging the Prime Minister to end the indefensible ban on the “Palestine Action” group.
The letter addressed to the British Prime Minister states: We all have a duty to do everything in our power to prevent genocide.
The signatories called on Burnham to immediately lift the ban on “Palestine Action,” drop political charges against the group’s members and supporters, and stop prosecuting non-violent protesters as terrorists.
The “Palestine Action” group was proscribed as a “terrorist” organization in 2025, during the premiership of Keir Starmer. The group had previously engaged in actions against military companies linked to Israel, such as blocking building entrances and splashing paint.
In this letter, activists from “Palestine Action” are described as a “non-violent, direct-action” group whose goal—according to the signatories—is to “save lives and prevent genocide.”
Signatories to the letter include feminist philosopher Judith Butler, writer and scholar Rashid Khalidi, and political scientist Norman Finkelstein.
Coinciding with the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, pro-Palestine protesters have gathered outside the venue, demanding an end to British arms sales to Israel and the imposition of further sanctions against the regime.
