PNN – Reuters reported that attacks on Riyadh’s airport and Aramco facilities have highlighted Saudi Arabia’s vulnerability to threats from a neighboring country.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; a Reuters report states that the attacks on Riyadh’s airport and Aramco facilities have underscored Saudi Arabia’s vulnerability to threats from a neighboring state and have impacted the country’s image as a secure destination for international investment—at a time when Riyadh is seeking to diversify its economy and reduce its reliance on oil.
Reuters, citing experts, reported that the scenario currently facing a key U.S. ally in the Persian Gulf region has been years in the making.
According to these experts, Iran has assisted Yemen’s Ansarullah in achieving capabilities approaching self-sufficiency in the production and deployment of advanced weaponry—a development that has fostered indigenous military and industrial capacities that cannot be easily dismantled, even if direct supply routes for equipment are disrupted.
The report further notes that as Ansarullah have expanded its arms-production capabilities, U.S. allies in the region have faced mounting pressure on their air defense systems.
