PNN – A Hebrew media outlet has reported that the inappropriate and offensive behavior of Israelis has made headlines in Thai newspapers.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Ynet—affiliated with the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper—stated in its report that concerns regarding the conduct of foreign tourists in Thailand are mounting, with local media explicitly singling out groups of Israeli tourists in this context.
Amidst complaints and incidents involving Israelis across the country, Thailand’s Tourism Minister announced that strict measures will henceforth be taken against individuals who break the law or cause public disorder.
Ynet further reported that Israeli tourists have once again come under the spotlight in Thailand; following published reports regarding problematic behavior by foreign tourists in Phuket and Koh Samui, the Thai Tourism Minister issued an unprecedented warning, emphasizing that authorities would not hesitate to take action against those who violate the law or cause disturbances.
Local media reports, reflecting his statements, have explicitly referred to groups of Israeli tourists.
Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong, stated that the government is prepared to work with relevant authorities to revoke the visas of tourists who cause trouble.
He added that while Thailand welcomes tourists from around the world, visitors to the country must respect local laws and culture.
“The Nation”—one of Thailand’s most prominent English-language media outlets covering this issue—has reported receiving accounts of inappropriate behavior and public disturbances caused by groups of foreign tourists, “particularly groups of Israeli tourists,” in major tourist destinations such as Phuket and Koh Samui. According to the report, such behavior has negatively impacted the sense of safety, the tourism atmosphere, and the image of the local service sector.
The Thai minister emphasized that these actions are individual acts and that his ministry has no intention of overlooking such incidents or allowing them to escalate. He explained that authorities would remain on high alert to intervene swiftly and revoke the visas of troublesome tourists. He further added that the government would not permit tourists of any nationality—specifically Israelis—to use Thailand as a playground, nor would it allow any part of the country to become a stage for displaying symbols of conflicts.
