PNN – Iraqi sources announced that the decision of Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement, to separate the military wing of the “Saraya al-Salam” from the political structure affiliated with him and incorporate it into the government has entered the implementation stage.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al-Arabi al-Jadeed, Iraqi sources announced that the decision of Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement, to separate the military wing of the “Saraya al-Salam” from the political structure affiliated with him and incorporate it into the government has entered the implementation stage.
This development came after the special committee formed to implement this decision held its first meeting and began its official activities.
The committee, appointed by Muqtada al-Sadr, announced on Friday that it had begun the process of pursuing the separation of the military wing of the “Saraya al-Salam” from the Shiite national movement.
This action is being taken within the framework of a direct order from Sadr; an order that emphasizes the completion of the implementation stages of this decision within a specific period of time.
The first meeting of this committee was attended by a number of leaders of the Sadrist movement and those responsible for following up on the implementation of this plan.
The statement of the special office of Muqtada al-Sadr also stated that, according to the order of the leader of this movement, the process of separating the military structure of Saraya al-Salam must be completed within a week, and the committee in charge has officially started its work to follow up on this process since Friday.
The Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed website wrote in this regard: While those close to Muqtada al-Sadr have refused to provide details regarding the implementation mechanism of this decision, attention has been focused on government institutions in Baghdad, which have simultaneously begun following up on this case.
However, analysts emphasize that implementing a plan of this scope in a short period of time and solely through administrative and security channels is not possible, and requires time and extensive coordination.
An informed government source announced in an interview with Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that the committee formed by Sadr began its official activities on Friday, and the government has simultaneously put the necessary measures on the agenda to accompany and facilitate the implementation of this process.
The source also emphasized that despite the complexities of this case and the existence of real obstacles, the responsible institutions are trying to manage these challenges in cooperation with all relevant parties.
According to him, the full implementation of this plan will require time from a technical and administrative perspective, but the deadline set can pave the way for the development of initial frameworks and agreement on basic mechanisms that will shape the subsequent stages.
He further clarified that the government does not see this process as limited to the Saraya al-Salam case, but rather considers it an important experience that, if successful, could become a model for organizing other armed groups in the future.
