He claimed: France is burning! The influx of immigrants from a completely different world—people harboring hatred in their hearts—has shattered a country that was once great. Close your borders and take control of the situation before it is too late!
These interventionist remarks by Trump came after Laurent Nuñez, France’s Interior Minister, announced that 1,800 people had been detained and over 500 police officers and firefighters injured following Saturday’s protests.
Nuñez held far-left groups and individuals involved in the looting of shops responsible for the violence; however, he did not link the unrest to immigration.
