Western media claim: Russia is transferring its military equipment from Syria to Africa

PNN – A western media, citing satellite images, claimed that Russia is reducing its presence in Syria and transferring its military assets to Africa.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the “Radio Free Europe” website announced this claim and said, after the December 8 ouster of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and long-time Russian ally, Moscow is looking to reduce its military footprint in Syria by withdrawing a significant amount of military equipment from its bases in Syria.

Reports indicate that in order to reduce the possible damage to the air base in “Hamimim” and the naval base in “Tartus”, it seems that Moscow is increasing its presence in the countries of Libya, Mali and Sudan.

Experts believe that African countries are unlikely to be a suitable alternative and choice for such measures.

This western media claims that the loss of military bases in Syria could be a major strategic failure for Russia.

In this regard, Moscow stated that it is still negotiating with the new government of Damascus on the future of its military bases in Syria.

Meanwhile, experts believe that the transfer of a significant number of Russian military equipment indicates that the country is preparing for a partial or complete withdrawal from Syria. They emphasized that this would be very costly.
