PNN – Zionist concerns regarding the post-election future have driven an increase in consumer spending.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Israeli media outlets have reported a significant surge in purchasing transactions coinciding with the elections.
The Hebrew-language news and analysis website Walla reported that, during the Knesset elections, Israelis recorded over 1.14 billion shekels in purchasing transactions—a figure 41 percent higher than that seen following the 2022 elections.
Meanwhile, some news outlets point to the concerns of Zionists regarding the situation Israel might face following the election results—as well as the anticipated rise in prices—as the primary reason for the rush to make purchases.
In a report, the Zionist website Walla stated that the volume of spending via debit cards recorded on Tuesday—between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM—exceeded 1.141 billion shekels. These figures were released by Shva, the company responsible for managing and developing Israel’s payment card system.
This figure represents a 41.2 percent increase compared to spending during the corresponding hours of the election for the 25th Knesset, held on November 1, 2022.
Shopping centers also experienced heavy crowds and a surge in “panic buying” on Election Day. According to data from this group, a survey of several major commercial centers revealed that the number of visitors by midday was three times higher than on an average day.
It is worth noting that Israeli media have reported that the Netanyahu administration kept prices artificially low leading up to the election; consequently, following the election, Israel is expected to see significant price hikes across all goods and energy products.
