Increasing pressure in the UK to stop arms sales to Israel

PNN – Following the increase in the number of martyrs of the Zionist regime’s war against the Gaza Strip and the continuation of the killing of the oppressed and defenseless Palestinian people in this region, the pressure of public opinion in England to stop arms sales to this child-killing regime has increased.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Hamza Yusuf, the Minister of Local Government of Scotland, published a message on the X social network (former Twitter) and wrote: Continuing arms sales to Israel is unjustifiable and possibly illegal.

Pointing to the necessity of breaking arms relations with the Zionist regime, he stated: The British government must finally do the right thing.

While republishing the controversial report of the Observer about the violation of international law in the war against Gaza, the Scottish Minister added: The British government should intervene in the case of the International Court of Justice on the genocide in Gaza and provide its legal advice to the court.

The Observer newspaper wrote in a report that the British government has received recommendations from its lawyers and legal advisers about the violation of international laws by the Zionist regime.

According to this report, Elisha Kerns, the head of the parliamentary committee on foreign relations, recently announced during a speech to the supporters of the conservative ruling party that the British Foreign Ministry has ignored these recommendations, continued to export weapons to the Zionist regime and has limited itself to only imposing some very limited punishments against the “Israeli” settlers.

Kearns added: Foreign Minister David Cameron and I believe that Israel has the right to defend itself, but this right has limitations in the law and is not without limits. Israel’s actions have put their own security and ours at risk in the long run.

This representative of the conservative party emphasized: I am convinced that the government has carried out its evaluations regarding Israel’s adherence to international humanitarian laws and concluded that Israel does not adhere to these laws.

Meanwhile, the Observer wrote that the legal advice provided means that the British government should immediately stop all licenses for the sale of arms to the Zionist regime. Legal experts also believe that if the London government does not follow these recommendations, it is facing the risk of violating international laws and participating in the genocide of Palestinians.

Hossam Zamlat, the ambassador of the Palestinian Authority government in London, says that the British government and other western countries should sanction and expel the Zionist regime from the United Nations. On Saturday, during a speech at a gathering of ten thousand supporters of Palestine in London’s Trafalgar Square, he said: If Israel doesn’t care about international law, we have to care, we have to make it care about global values. How? It should be banned.

The Palestinian diplomat also said in an interview with the BBC news channel: As an occupier, Israel has violated international laws and is committing genocide against the Palestinian people. Referring to British laws on suspending arms sales licenses to buyers who violate international laws, he emphasized that the arms cooperation between London and Tel Aviv should be stopped.

In two separate letters to the Foreign Minister of this country, British legislators have demanded to increase diplomatic pressure against the Zionist regime to stop the killing of Palestinians.

134 members of the House of Commons and Lords of England, in a joint letter to David Cameron, demanded an arms embargo on the Israeli regime.

Two days later, 115 lawmakers wrote another letter to the British Foreign Secretary: Ask Israel not to use starvation as a weapon of war in accordance with international humanitarian law. Also set a deadline of a few weeks, preferably days, for Israel to comply with ICJ orders, including facilitating full access to humanitarian aid, or face serious consequences for UK-Israel relations.

Of course, it is said that David Cameron has warned the Zionist regime that if it does not allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and does not obey international laws, the arms cooperation with this regime will be stopped.

According to the Daily Telegraph report, Cameron told the Israeli regime officials in recent negotiations: “Arms embargoes” may be imposed if Hamas prisoners (Palestinian prisoners) in Israel (Occupied Palestine) are denied access to meet with the Red Cross.

During the last 6 months, the Zionist regime has launched a massive massacre in Gaza. This regime has closed all crossings in the Gaza Strip and is bombarding this area.

Last Monday, the United Nations Security Council approved a resolution in support of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. In this resolution, all parties are asked to respect the immediate cessation of hostilities during the holy month of Ramadan, but the occupation regime’s crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people continue despite the approval of this resolution.

According to reports, more than 32,000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 74,000 others have been injured.
