Martyr Amir Abdollahian, the architect of Iran-Arab relations

PNN – Martyr Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian had a lot of knowledge about the cultural heritage of the Arab world, their customs and traditions, he was fluent in the Arabic language, and in line with the interests of the Islamic Republic, he talked with some senior Arab diplomats in their own language.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Iran’s diplomacy lost a high-ranking diplomat due to the crash of the helicopter carrying the delegation of Martyr Ayatollah Raisi and by following the policy of Martyr’s activities and life since assuming the responsibility of the Arab and African affairs department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, I can say that he was a motivated and energetic person. In fact, diplomats, Arab politicians, cultural and intellectual elites of the Arab world, especially the revolutionaries, were as shocked by this incident as the people of Iran were.

Hossein Amir abdollahian was very knowledgeable about the cultural heritage of the Arab nations, their customs, to the extent that he spoke Arabic better than even some of the most senior Arab diplomats. I have known him since he managed the Iranian Embassy in Bahrain and then managed the Persian Gulf Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran until he became the Arab and African Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and I know that he has developed relations with officials, officials and his counterparts in Arab countries. And the neighbor was interested.

Belief in the importance of relations with Egypt

Since Amir Abdollahian realized the importance of the relationship with Egypt for both countries and was researching the historical ties between the two ancient Korean peoples, he emphasized on expanding the historical ties between the two civilized countries and was trying to improve the relations to a level that is suitable for the ties be historical and cultural bilateral and break the stalemate between the two countries that has been going on for decades.

He was the last Iranian official who called the former president’s team hours before the ouster of former president Mohammad Morsi after the events of June 30, 2013. A year later, on June 8, 2014, as a representative of his country, he attended the inauguration ceremony of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the new president of Egypt, and stayed in Cairo for a few days. He tried to build communication bridges with the Egyptian elite and sought to know the situation in Egypt after the events of January 25 and June 30.

Amir Abdollahian’s meetings with many Egyptian elites of all intellectual and political orientations, and perhaps the most prominent of them was the late Egyptian writer Mohammad Hassanin Heikal. He met Heikal alone and with a group of intellectuals and journalists, and I was honored to participate in one of those meetings.

To be honest, Amir Abdollahian made a good impression on most of the attendees due to his high cultural awareness, extraordinary simplicity, sincerity and belief in the importance of the relations between the two countries. In this meeting, which I had the honor of attending, he began his speech by emphasizing the historical depth of the relations between the two ancient nations and the importance of reviving the relations between the two countries and developing them in a way that serves the national interests. He brought the conversation to the issue of Palestine and its centrality in the Arab and Islamic world and discussed the conspiracies in the region. The authorities of the Zionist regime are trying to create differences between Egypt and Iran because they know that the revival and development of relations between the two countries is in the interest of the Palestinian cause and in the service of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation.

He appreciated the position of the Egyptian government regarding the Syrian crisis. Egypt did not participate in the conspiracy against Syria, despite the many pressures brought to it by international and regional governments, and maintained its position in support of a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis.

The strategic perspective of Iran’s relations with its neighbors

Amir Abdollahian revealed in the meetings of the Iranian Parliament to obtain a vote of confidence from the representatives that the priority of his country’s foreign policy will be relations with the countries of the region, including the Arab countries, Central Asia, Russia, China, Turkey, etc. He announced that he will sit at the negotiating table regarding the nuclear issue, but he does not consider the nuclear agreement to be one of his country’s priorities.

The new foreign minister of Iran did not leave the audience’s eyes when he gave a speech in eloquent Arabic. Then, with the way it was placed in the center of the souvenir photo of the participating leaders, it attracted special attention, which shows the valuable and cultural position of the Iranian nation, as well as the regional and international position of this country.

Martyr Amir Abdollahian, during his presidency of Iran’s diplomacy, did not spare any efforts that could help to develop and expand relations between his country and Arab countries regardless of political differences.

Here, I want to examine his view of Egypt’s position in the relations between Iran and the Arabs, through a statement made on the sidelines of the “Iranian-Arab Dialogue” conference that was held in Tehran a while ago. He said: The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is based on dialogue and cooperation with neighboring countries and the region, has been able to achieve significant results in the field of trust building, creating comprehensive trends and real establishment, and has had tangible and transparent achievements with Islamic and Arab countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Amir Abdollahian emphasized: Within the framework of the agreement between the presidents of Iran and Egypt, we are advancing negotiations with the Egyptian foreign minister in the direction of improving relations between Tehran and Cairo. Common steps have been taken and we will continue this way together.
