PNN – Associate Professor of the Contemporary East and Africa Department of the Russian State University of Humanities believes that the letter of Ayatollah Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, in support of the American youth who support Palestine, means that the voices of the protestors are being heard against the policies of the United States of America and Israel.
In an interview with reporter in Moscow, Lana Ravandi Fadavi added: This letter also means that the account of the American government should be separated from its people, especially the young generation, many of whom support Palestine and condemn Israel’s actions.
The American government has become a police state
The senior expert of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences further recalled: In American universities, there have been widespread protests in support of Palestine and opposition to Israel’s actions towards the Palestinians.
He added: According to surveys, more than eight percent of students have participated in these protests, and as a result, nearly three thousand students have been arrested, and in some cases, police forces have dispersed the protesters in different ways.
Ravandi Fadavi confirmed the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that America has become a police state and said: We are witnessing serious violations of the principles of democracy, i.e. freedom of speech and protest gathering in America.
He said: I believe that anti-Russian propaganda, which has nothing to do with reality, and some of it is heard in America, especially in state media, can also be added to the record of the American police state.
This expert added: Although many analysts believe that America is still a relatively free government, but in most cases, it behaves like a police. We should hope that this process will stop, but for now the range of events is not very promising.
Ravandi Fadavi said: In the past few years, journalists have exposed numerous attempts by the American spy agencies to suppress the opposition, especially in cyberspace and social networks.
Changes in American society in favor of Palestine are not pleasing to Washington
The head of the cultural center of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences also said: In the past decade, free debates regarding the Middle East conflict in American universities have been severely limited, and the public mind has been led by social pressures to this direction that Israel has the right to do anything, but the Palestinians have no right.
He added: This process is changing; Today, criticism of Israel has become normal among the American people. It is natural that these changes are not very pleasant for the supporters of Israel’s aggressive policies among the radical and conservative spectrums of America.
This Russian expert stated: These angry pro-Israel forces are trying to discredit the student marches with methods such as paying money to another group of students; Money whose main source is the Soros Foundation.
Young Jews do not support Netanyahu’s aggressive policies
Ravandi Fadaei continued: Nevertheless, many young Jews in American states do not support Netanyahu’s aggressive policies regarding Palestine.
Protests are moving to the heart of American society
The associate professor of the Department of Contemporary East and Africa of the Russian State University of Humanities recalled in a conversation with the Islamic Republic News Agency in Moscow: If we consider that in the past, Israel was condemned only from the margins of the American society, now these voices are moving to the center and heart of this society.
He continued: This situation indicates a serious change in the American political scene, which worries many in the American ruling body, because if Israel loses Washington’s support, it will be a disaster for it.
Ravandi Fadaei said: It is unlikely that this will happen in the near future, but now there are cracks and the march of students is one of the indicators.
In the end, this professor of Russian universities said: I believe that the most important issue at the current stage for the pro-Palestinian governments is unity and collective action.
Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in a letter addressed to students who conscientiously support the Palestinian people in American universities, while expressing sympathy and solidarity with the anti-Zionist protests of these students, considered them to be part of the resistance front and referring to the change in the situation and fate of the sensitive region of the West Asia.
Since the beginning of Israel’s brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip, various American cities have witnessed various rallies, demonstrations and campaigns against Israel’s attack on Gaza and opposition to the protectionist policies of the Biden government against the Zionist regime. However, the turning point of these protests in the United States started on April 17 at Columbia University, and its scope reached other universities in the United States and academic centers in the world in a short time.
Anti-Israeli student protests in the United States began with a peaceful gathering of Columbia University students demanding an end to the war in Gaza and intensified when the New York City police force entered the student camp for mass arrests. These protests spread on April 22 when students at several universities on the US East Coast – including New York University, Yale University, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Tufts University – began holding similar rallies, leading to mass arrests including New York and Yale led.
