The importance and necessity of Russia for Israel; Will Netanyahu lose Moscow?

PNN – The ups and downs in diplomatic relations between Russia and the Israeli regime have been one of the most volatile conditions in recent years between Moscow and Tel Aviv. The conditions that the parties repeatedly referred to as strategic cooperation or the relations that have turned cold after the war in Ukraine and Gaza.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, with the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine, the leaders of the Zionist regime tried to be in the middle of this battle. The calls and various efforts of Naftali Bennett, the prime minister at the time of this regime, showed that he was trying to keep the parties satisfied; A policy that brought opposition in Israel at the same time.

Some groups in this regime believed that Moscow should be more clearly and accurately condemned and accompanied by Western sanctions, and another group, for example Netanyahu, believed that Tel Aviv should not destroy its strategic relations with Moscow.

The prolongation of the war and the failure of all mediators to stop the crisis forced Tel Aviv to accompany the large amount of diplomatic pressure and sanctions of the West and Europeans against Russia.

Israel’s cooperation with Ukraine and the sending of weapons aid to this country, along with Western and European sanctions against Russia, has been a factor in the cooling of relations between Moscow and Tel Aviv.

Factors that keep Russia and Israel together

Russian President Putin did not expect such behavior from his strategic partner and partner, and this reaction was reflected in Moscow’s failure to join Tel Aviv in the Gaza war. After the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, Russia did not condemn this attack and on the other hand expressed its support for the Palestinian people and Hamas forces.

But the Kremlin entered into negotiations with the Hamas forces in order not to destroy Moscow’s relations with Israel and succeeded in freeing several Russian-born Jewish captives. This action of Putin was noticed by Netanyahu, and during the last telephone conversation between Putin and Netanyahu, he asked Putin to do his best to help and release the Israeli prisoners in Hamas prison.

After his phone conversation with Netanyahu, Putin also negotiated with the commanders of Hamas to mediate and ease the tension between the Palestinian and Israeli resistance forces.

It is worth noting that the height of relations between Israel and Russia is definitely owed to Netanyahu. In recent years, especially after the Syrian crisis, he has tried hard to keep his relations with Putin close and warm. There have been more than 10 meetings between Putin and Netanyahu. Meanwhile, in all his meetings and talks with the President of Russia, Netanyahu emphasized the danger of Iran’s presence in Syria and the Golan for Tel Aviv, and this issue was very important for the Zionists.

But perhaps the main reason for Russian support in the Gaza war is the presence of the Russian Jewish population in Israel. According to the statistics, out of the population of 8 million Zionists based in the occupied territories, about one million of them are Russian immigrants in the last 60 years. Statistics show that they are the largest racial minority living in Israel after the Israeli Arabs.

Will Tel Aviv lose Moscow?

Here is an important question: if Putin fails to mediate between Hamas and Israeli forces, will relations between Moscow and Tel Aviv be destroyed? And if the relationship between them is lost, which party will be hurt?

In response to this question and taking into account the points raised, we must note that the relations between Russia and Israel may have been cold and frictional at times. But it can be clearly stated that the relations between them will not be destroyed under any circumstances due to the presence of Jews of Russian origin in Israel and the historical background and cultural relations prevailing between them; Because the cooling of relations does not mean a sharp drop in relations.

It should also be noted that many Jews of Russian origin living in Israel have played a vital role in Israel’s economy, and the loss of relations will have a heavy economic impact on the state of Israel.

Also, due to the strengthening of relations between Moscow and Tehran in recent years and the creation of a sense of serious threat by Tehran to Israel in the region, the existence of communication between Israel and Russia is a safe point in order to restrain Tehran from Moscow.

Even as diplomatic relations between Israel and Russia cool, we see hidden strategic ties between them. Maintaining these relations does not depend on a particular person, which means that Israel will try its best to maintain these relations, whether with Netanyahu or any other person.

It is even possible that the strength of these relations with someone other than Netanyahu will be more and more powerful. Because in Israel, the person is not a priority and the system and traditional relations are the central sign of Israel’s foreign policy.

Due to its cultural relations with Israel and also its relations with Hamas commanders, Russia has this privilege and is considered the best option to mediate in the Gaza war and end the aggression of the Zionist regime and end the killing of civilians.
