Very close competition between Trump and Harris; who will get more votes?

PNN – According to the latest CNN poll, the competition between Republican and Democratic candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in the November 5, 2024 election is very close, and neither of them can be considered the decisive winner of the presidential election.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the American news channel CNN affiliated with the Democrats reported: A new CNN poll of national polling averages released Wednesday local time shows that There is still no clear leader in the presidential race, with an average of 50 percent of likely voters supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and 48 percent supporting former President Donald Trump.

The latest poll by YouGov and The Times of London also shows that Harris has won the support of the people at the national level, 48 percent and Trump 45 percent, within the margin of sampling error of this poll.

A new Monmouth University poll also found that 48 percent of voters said they would “definitely” or “probably” vote for Harris. This amount for Trump is 45 percent.

Patrick Murray, director of Monmouth polling, says in this regard: Even a one percent change can affect the result, but it is beyond the ability of most polls to draw accurate conclusions. The final point is that this competition is of luck and it started in August.

Earlier, the results of a recent Emerson College poll of 1,000 likely voters showed Harris leading Trump by only one percent, meaning 49 percent support Harris and 48 percent support Trump. This poll has a margin of error of three percent.

The race is now nearly deadlocked, with both candidates holding similar national votes and closely contested key swing states. Harris, who was ahead of Trump by two percentage points late last month, is now narrowly ahead of the Republican nominee. This reduction in distance can be a worrying sign for Harris.

The survey also shows a clear gender gap. Trump leads among men, with 56% supporting him, compared to 42% for Harris. 55% of women support Harris, while 41% of women say they support Trump.

The difference reflects broader US electoral trends in which men tend to go for Trump, while women tend to support Harris.

The US presidential election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, and the winner of this election will begin the four-year presidential term from January 2025.

A candidate for the presidency in the United States, not by winning a majority of the popular vote, but through a system called the Electoral College, which allocates electoral votes to the 50 states and the District of Columbia, based largely on their population.

When American voters go to the polls to elect a president, they usually only see the names of the presidential and vice presidential candidates. However, voters actually vote for an assembly of electors (electoral assembly).

Nationally, there are a total of 538 electoral votes (Electoral College votes), meaning a candidate must win 270 Electoral College votes.

Each state has as many representatives and senators as it have in Congress. There are two senators for each state, but the allocation of seats in the House of Representatives varies by state population. California, the most populous US state, has 54 electoral votes.

The six least populated states and the District of Columbia have only three electoral votes, which is the minimum number of electoral votes allocated to a state. This means that an electoral vote in Wyoming, as a sparsely populated state, is about 192,000 people. While an electoral vote in Texas, one of the states with the lowest voter turnout represents about 730,000 people.

All but two US states use the winner-take-all approach, in which the candidate who receives the most votes in that state receives all the electoral votes.

In the current US presidential election, important electoral states include Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The Electoral College will meet on December 17 to officially cast their ballots and send the results to Congress. The candidate who gets 270 electoral votes or more becomes the president.

The votes will be officially tallied by Congress on January 6, and the new president will be sworn in on January 20.
