PNN – Iran issued a stern warning at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting that attacks on nuclear facilities should be “absolutely” banned.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s delegation at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting called for a “zero tolerance” policy against these actions, citing the 17 waves of armed attacks against our country’s nuclear facilities.
In the statement, Iran stressed that any attack or threat against nuclear facilities under safeguards is a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter and the IAEA Statute and must be prohibited under all circumstances without exception.
The statement referred to the danger posed by attacks on the Bushehr power plant and emphasized that a direct hit on such facilities could lead to an environmental disaster and a widespread release of radioactive materials.
