Al Jazeera: Why can’t Iran give up control of the Strait of Hormuz?

Strait of Hormuz

PNN – The Strait of Hormuz, a vital passageway through which about a quarter of the world’s maritime oil trade passes, is a key lever for Iran, and it will never give it up.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Al Jazeera website said in an analysis: By disrupting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has been able to impose economic costs not only on the United States, but on the entire world.

This has given Iran the bargaining power to resist American demands, such as Washington’s insistence on ending its nuclear program, and Iran does not need to defeat the US Navy to change the economic calculations of the war. Iran’s main need to intercept oil tankers can be met with almost any type of explosive projectile.

During the conflict, Iran has shown that it has an advanced arsenal, such as suicide drones, speedboats equipped with anti-ship cruise missiles and rocket launchers that can be fired in large numbers.
