America announced that its forces have been attacked 16 times in Iraq and Syria this month.
A spokesman for the US Department of Defense said on Thursday that the country’s forces have been attacked 16 times in a week.
“I can tell you between October 17 and October 26, US and coalition forces were attacked 12 separate times in Iraq and 4 times in Syria by drones and rockets,” Patrick Ryder said at a press conference Thursday evening.
The spokesman of the US Ministry of Defense claimed that groups supported by Iran have carried out these attacks against US bases.
Meanwhile, a few hours ago, an official of the US Department of Defense told Politico that 19 soldiers of this country in Iraq and Syria have suffered traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a result of drone and rocket attacks in the last week.
The Pentagon official stated that 15 American soldiers in the al-Tanf region of Syria and 4 soldiers in Ain al-Asad, Iraq, have been diagnosed with “traumatic brain injury” (concussion).
According to this Pentagon official, two other American soldiers suffered other minor injuries in al-Tanf and all these people have now returned to their posts.
In recent days, conflicting statistics have been published about the injuries of American soldiers as a result of drone and rocket attacks on American bases in Iraq and Syria.
Yesterday, the Pentagon announced that 21 US military personnel suffered minor injuries after the October 17 and 18 attacks on these bases. The Pentagon is known for releasing information in a trickle-down manner in such cases.
Politico has considered this report as an indication of the dangers against hundreds of US troops in the country’s bases throughout the Middle East.
The resistance groups in the region who are opposed to the US military presence have repeatedly targeted the positions of the American forces at the Harir base in the north of Iraq and the Ain al-Asad base in the west of this country with drone and rocket attacks since a few days ago. They have also targeted the American invaders in Syria.
The al-Tanf base in eastern Syria and the American base in the Konico gas field in northeastern Syria are among the bases that have been targeted by drone or rocket attacks by the Iraqi resistance.
