American officials have said that the Marlin Luanda oil tanker caught fire after being hit by an anti-ship missile.

American officials have told CBS that the Marlin Luanda oil tanker caught fire after being hit by an anti-ship missile.

The company that owns this ship said that the hit of this missile caused a fire in one of the cargo tanks of this ship and fire extinguishing equipment was used to control the fire.

American officials have said that no one was injured in this incident.

The British Merchant Marine Operations Department said the incident occurred 60 nautical miles southeast of the Gulf of Aden.

Hours earlier, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman of the Yemeni armed forces, announced a missile attack on a British oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden.

Pointing out that the missiles hit the target and caused a fire, Saari said: Our operations against Israeli ships or ships bound for Palestinian ports will continue until the [Israeli] attacks stop and food enters Gaza.

He also emphasized that Yemen will take all necessary military measures in line with the right of self-defense to show its practical solidarity with the Palestinian nation.

British-owned Embry Maritime Security confirmed the news and said the explosion occurred near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. In this attack, two missiles were fired at a ship, which is said to belong to India.

Yahya Saree said in a statement on Thursday morning that the country’s army clashed with several US destroyers and warships in the Gulf of Aden and the Strait of Bab al-Mandab.

Saree explained in this statement that several ballistic missiles directly hit the American warship and two American commercial ships also escaped.
