Brutal killings of civilians and demagoguery; A symbol of American wars.

Brutal killings of civilians and demagoguery; A symbol of American wars.

In this report, the Intercept magazine has criticized the US military’s disregard for international laws and human rights, as well as the irresponsible drone attacks of the US, by reviewing the performance of the US military in recent wars.

This report states: During the last century, the United States military has ignored the lives of civilians and presented ordinary people as the enemy. Also, the Pentagon has not been successful in investigating cases related to civilian casualties and has not been accountable to the international community and public opinion. This approach contrasted with public campaigns by the United States to justify wars in which the military’s air operations presented themselves as accurate and flawless and spoke of Washington’s concerns for civilians and innocent people. In order to hide the real losses of the American war strategy, the Pentagon has been demagoguery continuously since the 1920s.

The Intercept provided a statistical example of civilian casualties in Japan and wrote: In Japan, the United States attacked 67 cities, burned 180 square miles, killed more than 600,000 civilians, and left 8.5 million homeless. did The US Secretary of Defense at the time, Henry Stimson, referring to this human catastrophe and widespread destruction, warned that the United States would surpass Hitler in committing crimes. Nevertheless, Stimson signed off on an atomic attack on the city of Hiroshima, which killed 140,000 people, mostly civilians, in that city and another 70,000 civilians in Nagasaki. Meanwhile, the United States never paid compensation to the families of the victims of this attack. Also, during the Korean War, Curtis Lee May explicitly stated that the United States had killed more than a million Korean civilians and driven several million more from their homes.

It should be mentioned that during the first 20 years of the war against terrorism, the United States conducted more than 91,000 airstrikes in seven countries involved in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen, and according to the 2021 report, more than 48,000 civilians were killed. killed It should be noted that some studies published about civilian casualties after September 11 are not valid at all. In these analyses, only American military witnesses were interviewed, and civilians, victims, survivors, and their family members were almost completely ignored.

At the end of this article, referring to the continuation of the key elements of destructive American air wars in the present, he adds: In recent weeks, Israeli officials have repeatedly attacked Gaza, citing the methods used by the United States and its allies against Germany and other Axis powers during the war. They had used the Second World War and justified it. Meanwhile, the United Nations announced that there is clear evidence that war crimes have been committed by the Israeli army. Israel has also adopted the American method of “free fire zones” – which the US used to open up large parts of South Vietnam, killing many civilians – in the Gaza war.
