On Saturday night, hundreds of opponents of the Israeli Prime Minister demonstrated in Tel Aviv to protest the government’s defeat on October 7 and the lack of an official fact-finding committee to investigate the reasons for this defeat, and to demand the formation of such a committee.
To escape the consequences of this unprecedented intelligence and military failure, Netanyahu’s cabinet has formed a government investigation committee, which has led the opposition to consider the committee to be without legal validity.
Not long ago, the Israeli Supreme Court temporarily suspended a session aimed at forming a formal investigation committee into the failures related to the events of October 7, 2023, after a group of supporters of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attempted to forcefully enter the courtroom.
According to Hebrew media, Netanyahu supporters tried to prevent the hearing from taking place and reaching a conclusion by storming the courtroom.
The clashes and chaos led to the judges being escorted out of the courtroom by security guards and the live broadcast of the hearing was halted. This came amid tensions within the hearing over how to proceed with the investigation and the limits of the committee’s powers.
However, the court session resumed after a break due to the unrest, despite the Netanyahu government’s stance that it is not obligated to form such a committee.
