PNN – A US media outlet stated that Saudi Arabia finds itself under a naval blockade for the first time in its history.

Saudi Arabia has spent tens of billions of dollars on air defense systems. Yet, it continues to struggle to protect its most critical infrastructure against relatively inexpensive drones and missiles.
Bilal Saab, a former Pentagon advisor on Middle East affairs, said: Arab Gulf states never truly adapted to these new aerial threats. Now, those threats are crashing down upon them.
Saudi officials fear the future. Andreas Krieg of King’s College London noted: The Yemenis could threaten Saudi Arabia’s western export terminals.
For the first time, both ends of the Saudi energy system could be simultaneously at risk. This vulnerability is a primary reason for Riyadh’s determination to avoid a direct escalation of tensions with Iran.
