Increasing American pressure on Türkiye to stop banking transactions with Russia

PNN – A well-informed source in Turkey announced the increase of American pressure on Turkish banks due to banking transfers with Russia and said that the country’s banks are constantly receiving warnings from Washington.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, this knowledgeable source in the Turkish financial market while announcing this news told Sputnik that Turkish banking are constantly receiving warnings about the necessity of strict control of final payment sources.

Alexey Erkov, the Russian ambassador in Ankara, had previously announced in an interview with this news agency that problems in the settlement of bank accounts between Russia and Turkey have continued, and cases such as blocking bank transfers, closing accounts, and selling shares of companies involved in the transfer of goods to Russia have increased in Turkish banks.

The aforementioned Turkish source further added: Our banks, both public and private, are currently under increasing pressure from the United States due to the recent package of sanctions against Russia. All sources of transfers from and to Russia and bank accounts of Russian citizens are being investigated.

According to this source, it is not yet clear when the situation of bank transfers between the two countries will return to normal. He emphasized that official decisions should be made in this regard.

The 14th EU sanctions package against Russia was approved on June 20 of this year. According to reports, the main goal of this new package is to close the loopholes of the previous sanctions and prevent any circumvention of them by Moscow.
