In his address to the 81st session of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized issues that are central to both the Islamic world and the international community.
Pezeshkian stated: Iran has not attacked any country in the past 200 years; it has always acted in self-defense, yet today it is accused of being a source of instability in the region.
Regarding the nuclear issue, the President emphasized: Iran’s nuclear issue cannot be resolved on the battlefield. The solution lies in an agreement that provides the world with credible assurance regarding the peaceful nature of Iran’s program, while assuring the Iranian people that their rights will be upheld.
Addressing the Zionist regime’s crimes against oppressed Palestinians and the regime’s immunity from scrutiny and oversight, he remarked: Palestine remains an open wound on the conscience of the global community, and Gaza stands as a symbol of the failure of international mechanisms to prevent civilian suffering.
He continued: Resolutions have been issued for decades, yet occupation and violence persist. We cannot speak of peace while ignoring Palestine; lasting peace in West Asia is impossible without justice for Palestine.
Pezeshkian added: I repeat—Israel possesses nuclear bombs, yet the inspectors are in Iran! Israel kills, but Iran is sanctioned! The tragedy here is such that anyone hearing it would find it absurd; sanctions target the poor and innocent, making the people victims of sinister agendas.
