In recent months, after the start of the Gaza war, Hebrew sources reported that economic problems in the occupied territories have intensified, which will have numerous negative effects.
The report states that almost half of the children in the occupied territories have either suffered from psychological and mental problems or are facing serious problems in their education due to the effects of the war.
In addition, 52 percent of the elderly in these territories face severe economic difficulties and live in poverty and food insecurity.
Also, about 65 percent of these individuals affected by economic problems are struggling to make ends meet and are in a financially vulnerable position. Statistics show that one million Zionists are facing difficulties in paying their monthly installments.
The “Latat” organization, which is a Zionist organization in the field of food security and poverty, documents the situation of poverty and social problems in the occupied territories in its annual reports.
In its latest report, the organization warned of the collapse of social cohesion in the occupied territories and emphasized that social resilience in this country has declined sharply after 14 months of war.
According to published statistics, in 2024, 2,756,000 people, equivalent to 678,200 households and 1,240,000 children, will live in poverty in the occupied territories. This indicates that 29 percent of the population is below the poverty line this year.
