“Mohammed Yunus” became the head of the interim government of Bangladesh.

According to France 24, the presidency of Bangladesh announced on Wednesday, after meeting with military leaders, student protesters, and civil society members, that Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus will lead the country’s interim government.

The election of Mohammad Yunus as the head of the interim government took place after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on Monday following massive street protests.

Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar yesterday confirmed that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in India and declared that New Delhi is very worried until law and order is established in the country.

A day after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and her escape to India, the President of Bangladesh, Mohammad Shahabuddin, announced that the parliament of this country had been dissolved.

Earlier, Shahabeddin said that elections will be held in this country soon while emphasizing the release of the protesters who were jailed during the recent student demonstrations.

In this speech, Shahabuddin announced that he had ordered the release of Khaleda Zia, the former prime minister and leader of the opposition to Sheikh Hasina’s government. According to him, the regulations of martial law have been canceled since this morning (Tuesday) local time and the guilds have been allowed to reopen.

Hasina resigned and then fled to India after widespread anti-government protests that began more than two weeks ago in Bangladesh with student demonstrations in response to government job quotas.

Bangladesh Army Chief Waqarul Zaman confirmed yesterday that Hasina had resigned and that an interim government would be formed in Bangladesh.
