PNN – A Russian media outlet has reported that Russia has become top priorities for the Zionist regime’s intelligence agency, Mossad.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Russia’s TASS news agency—citing experts from the country’s “National Defense” institute—wrote that the appointment of Roman Hoffman, a Belarus-born officer, as the head of Mossad signals a strategic shift in the agency’s approach toward Russia.

Experts from the Russian National Defense institute told TASS that the selection of a Russian speaker to lead the Zionist regime’s intelligence agency elevates Russia to a key priority for Mossad.

Tass wrote: Hoffman’s extensive familiarity with the realities of the Soviet and post-Soviet eras—gained not only through analytical reports but also through informal connections with Russian-speaking communities—provides him with a unique perspective.

According to expert analysis, the fact that the Mossad chief is a Russian speaker offers a distinct advantage for the agency’s operations in the post-Soviet space. Hoffman’s cultural fluency allows him to grasp the realities of Russia firsthand, rather than relying solely on second-hand information. Officers with high-level security backgrounds from other countries often possess a more precise understanding of Soviet-era operational patterns, and Hoffman’s expertise makes him a key asset in this regard.

TASS reports that since 2022, military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran has shifted from a distant threat to a tangible security concern for Israel. This development has effectively linked the military efforts of Moscow and Tehran, compelling the Mossad to prioritize monitoring their joint activities; tracking this cooperation has become a central focus of the agency’s operational work.

On April 12, the appointment of Major General Roman Hoffman—the military secretary to Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet—as the head of the Mossad was officially confirmed. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced that his tenure would begin on June 2, succeeding David Barnea, who had led the agency since 2021.
