PNN – While the US government has claimed that the cost of the Iran war for the United States is only $25 billion, Western media sources have announced that the cost of this war has exceeded $77 billion.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al-Mayadeen, the costs of the US military war against Iran have exceeded $77 billion by its 71st day. This is while Washington has suffered heavy losses in personnel, equipment, ships stationed in the region and other related costs.
According to data from the website “Tracking the Costs of the Iran War”, the costs of the US military war against Iran have exceeded $77 billion by its 71st day.
The website updates the data in real time and calculates the costs of maintaining personnel, ships stationed in the region, and other related costs.
The calculation method is based on a report submitted to Congress by the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, which shows that the first three days cost $11.3 billion. The report, in its disclosure, stated that the costs for the following days would reach $1 billion per day.
At the end of April, Deputy Secretary of Defense and Comptroller of the Treasury, Jules Hurst, claimed before the House Armed Services Committee that US costs in the war against Iran had reached about $25 billion. However, the following day, American media reported, citing informed sources, that the amount mentioned did not include the costs of rebuilding US military facilities and replacing damaged equipment. They clarified that the actual costs were almost double this figure.
War damage
The US lost dozens of aircraft during the war, including MQ-9 Reaper drones, F-15E attack jets, AWACS airborne warning and control aircraft, KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft, an A-10 attack aircraft, and two MC-130J multi-role cargo aircraft.
Bloomberg reported that replacing the systems would cost billions of dollars. The United States also lost or damaged several THAAD radar systems, each costing hundreds of millions of dollars.
Aircraft carriers cost about $4.9 million per day to operate, while destroyers cost about $600,000. The flight deck of an aircraft carrier costs about $3.8 million per day, the news agency added.
According to an analysis by Becca Wasser, head of defense at Bloomberg Economics, the cost of a 39-day war against Iran alone, involving two aircraft carriers and 16 destroyers, is estimated at about $1 billion.
The report noted that Iran has launched more than 1,850 ballistic missiles at targets across the region, which would mean using about 4,000 interceptor missiles for defense.
