The reasons for Tel Aviv’s defeat against Hamas from the perspective of a Zionist general.
According to Arabi 21, General Isaac Barik, commander of the Israeli reserve forces, in an article in the Hebrew-language newspaper Ma’ariv, examined the factors behind the Israeli army’s defeat against the Hamas movement in the Gaza war, despite the passage of more than 14 months of the devastating war in the region, and wrote that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s repeated statements that the war would not end before eradicating Hamas and removing Israeli prisoners from Gaza show that what is happening is contrary to this trend.
Barik added in his article that Tel Aviv is increasingly losing its power to destroy Hamas, and today it is Hamas that holds sovereignty and control over Gaza, with thousands of its fighters stationed in underground tunnels that stretch for hundreds of kilometers.
The Zionist analyst added that the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Forces, the military wing of the Hamas movement, have recently recruited more than 3,000 young people between the ages of 18 and 20.
According to this article, although Israeli forces are stationed on the ground, everything happens underground and in the tunnels, and the Israeli army has no control over them. Hamas continues to govern the Gaza Strip.
Brik stated: “We occupied Jabalia for the fifth time and we are witnessing the same number in other areas, but we are still losing a large number of our soldiers and receiving a lot of damage.”
According to this Zionist general, the Israeli army cannot destroy Hamas because it does not have more forces and army elements have been present in the areas they have occupied for a long time; but they cannot destroy Hamas.
He referred to the ineffectual and aimless attacks of the Israeli army against Gaza and said that despite this, Netanyahu continues to refuse to release the prisoners who are losing their lives in the Hamas tunnels. He continues to fight in order to ensure his survival in power.
Yitzhak Barak said that Netanyahu left Israeli prisoners to die in Hamas tunnels, which is considered a betrayal. The ugly behavior that Netanyahu and his entourage are carrying out will have disastrous consequences for Israel, and Israeli settlers are refusing to join the army in the most difficult circumstances due to the betrayals they are being subjected to.
