US to spend another $725 million on arms for Ukraine.
Reuters, citing two US government officials, said the US government is preparing to send a new military aid package to Ukraine worth $725 million.
According to Reuters sources, the new military aid package includes a range of anti-tank weapons from US military reserves, including land mines, drones, Stinger missiles, and ammunition for HIMARS rocket launchers.
In addition, according to a notification that Reuters claims to have obtained, the new package will also include cluster munitions for multiple launch rocket systems and guided missiles.
One of the US officials added that the official announcement of the new military aid will be submitted to the US Congress next Monday.
US media reported on Tuesday, citing a classified document, that US President Joe Biden has secretly requested another $24 billion from Congress to replenish the Pentagon’s reserves for Ukraine. The request could reportedly be considered in December.
Western countries have increased their military and financial assistance to Kyiv since Russia began its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. Russia has repeatedly said that sending weapons to Ukraine would hinder a resolution to the conflict and would directly involve NATO countries in the conflict.
