PNN – During a meeting with a U.S. envoy, the Russian President stated that the potential for diplomacy regarding Iran has not been exhausted and that an agreement with Tehran remains achievable.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing RT, Yuri Ushakov—an aide to the Russian President—announced that the meeting in St. Petersburg marked the ninth interaction between Putin and American negotiators. During this meeting, Putin and Witkoff reviewed the state of negotiations between Russia and the United States and held detailed discussions regarding the possibility of implementing major economic projects between the two nations.

An aide to the Russian President continued: Following a telephone conversation with Trump, Putin and Witkoff exchanged views on ways to achieve a lasting peace. Putin informed Witkoff of Russia’s readiness to resume trilateral negotiations regarding Ukraine during the second ten days of November. Witkoff, in turn, briefed Putin on the nature of the talks held in Oslo.

Yuri Ushakov further added that Putin and Witkoff discussed the situation in the Middle East (West Asia), including matters concerning Iran. During the meeting, Putin stated that Russia is prepared to mediate in the resolution of the conflict surrounding Iran. Putin also remarked that the potential for diplomacy regarding the situation with Iran has not been exhausted, and that an agreement can be reached with Tehran.

He further added that the situation in Ukraine was the primary focus of the discussion between Putin and Witkoff. The status of resolving the Ukrainian crisis—following Kyiv’s disruption of negotiations—was reviewed once again, taking into account signals received from the United States.

Putin provided Witkoff with an objective overview of the situation along the line of contact, where the initiative rests firmly with the Russian Armed Forces. As a retaliatory measure, the Russian Armed Forces are effectively destroying defense industry, energy, and logistics facilities within Ukrainian territory. Agreements between Russia and the U.S. regarding diesel fuel will help stabilize demand in the global fuel market. Several joint Russian-American economic projects are nearing the implementation stage.
