PNN – Foreign Minister of Venezuela Ivan Gil condemned the presence of a British ship in the waters of Guyana and said that this action is a direct threat to the peace of the region.
According to Pakistan News Network, Gill wrote on Thursday night in a statement published on X social network: The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects and condemns the arrival of the HMS Trent ship of the British Navy to the shores of Guyana.
He added: This is a hostile and provocative act that violates the “Argyle Declaration”, which is a roadmap to resolve the territorial dispute between Venezuela and Guyana over “Skibeh Guyana”.
Gill warned: “The presence of a military ship is a very serious issue, especially since this action is accompanied by the statements of political and military officials for military intervention in this controversy.”
He emphasized: These statements are coordinated with the actions of the Southern Command of the US Army, which is a direct threat to the peace and security of the region.
Gale said: “Venezuela calls on Guyanese authorities to take immediate action to withdraw HMS Trent and to refrain from involving military powers in the territorial dispute.”
Tensions between Caracas and Georgetown have recently increased after Guyana agreed to the American company ExxonMobil’s activities in the oil and gas blocks located in Eskiba’s maritime territory.
Following the rise of tensions and regional fear of war between the two countries, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and Guyana President Irfan Ali following the proposal of Brazilian President Lula da Silva and the government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with the aim of establishing a high-level table to maintain peace in Latin America and the Caribbean met each other without the intervention of foreign agents.
